FREE JACKS VINTAGE

brief:

The New England Free Jacks were tasked by Major League Rugby to come up with a Vintage Style Jersey. The Free Jacks asked Daiku Creative to develop a vintage style logo and jersey design that would look at home in a 1970s baseball stadium.

solution:

To create a 70s baseball feel Daiku creative developed a hand-drawn ball-yard vintage script. Using bold outlines and sweeping curves, the logo looked like it would fit into the teams of the 60s and 70s.

Emulating the vintage styles of the 70s, the Jersey was left very bold with block red and framed with a continuous red and blue stripe from collar to sock.

Not only was this jersey the best selling design of the year, the hats, baseball jerseys and other items sold out within the first hour of game day and contributed to breaking the franchise sales record.

Design Process

The only way to create an authentic vintage look is to use real vintage techniques. Created entirely by hand, this vintage script logo finds beauty in the smooth and flowing curves of hand-illustrated type.

These beautiful designs were a phenomenal addition to the brand and one of the key reasons we broke merchandise revenue records.
