My Own Two Hands is a podcast that tells handmade stories. From the processes of master craftspeople to the science behind creativity; Two Hands endeavors to reveal the secrets of handmade living.
Podcasts are oversaturated and it seems like everyone has one. When designing a logo and cover it is important to stand out from the crowd, while visually telling the handmade story.
In order to develop a handmade story, the logo needed to be handmade. This led to a hand-designed classic logo style, with a simple bespoke created script.
The logo needed to have a clean finish for multiple applications, such as merchandise. Focusing on the handmade stories that My Own Two Hands tell was the important starting point.
Handmade is a rugged process, from woodwork to baking there are handprints on every aspect. Although the final product is perfect, the process used to create perfection is often messy. Using this as a starting point, the clean flowing logo is presented alongside rough and worn backgrounds, symbolizing the work that goes into handmade products.
My Own Two Hands logo was created entirely by hand and then scanned into a computer for digitization.
Using processes from the past not only created an authentic handmade logo for a handmade podcast, but it took us back to the roots of graphic design.
After multiple pages of layouts, reams of drafting tape, plenty of pencils, and countless iterations, the handcrafted logo was born.
The way that our cover stands out from the white noise is just great. These guys really understood the brief when creating our logo and we can't wait for all the Merch.
