brief:

We were approached by ThunderCo to create a music festival brand that captured the feeling of the end of summer. Not only would we be tasked with building the brand but Oliver Gilpin would operate as the creative director for the festival.

After creating the brand, we set out to tailor and mold every single touchpoint.

solution:

In order to develop an environment that captured summer, we focused first on creating landscapes with bold contrasting color palettes. We then used lino print and risograph textures to add depth to these landscapes. It was important to create a brand that was simple and clean with a retro feel.

In every touch point, it was important to apply the same brand ethos. We worked with vintage fashion influencers in order to embroider logos on vintage items. Not only did this meet the retro brand, but it also reduced the festival’s reliance on fast fashion and merchandise.

DESIGN PROCESS:

To capture a retro aesthetic, we used lino and risograph printing techniques in order to build summer landscapes. Using this as a base, we experimented with bold summer color palettes and white clean text.

As photography would be a hugely important aspect of the brand, we explored light leak cameras and expired film to capture a retro summer whimsy.

A great job, we are so excited to build the festival and the brand every year.
